E’CCO

There is steak, and then there is STEAK. E’cco Bistro’s variety is something else. Sure the servings are smaller and it’s more expensive but it’s reflected in the taste, the texture, the smell, but there’s more to it than that. For love exceeds just the product… true love is an experience. * cue romantic dramatic music *

There is a discernible difference between hotels and restaurants. Service exists in restaurants. At times, it is of the kind that you take notice of because it’s so goddam efficient. E’cco is no exception. Tipping is tricky in Australia because it’s not common (if anyone knows what the done thing is please comment), but when you encounter great service it’s just not an issue when handing over an extra 10%.

So I’ve heard e’cco is quite the Brisbane institution. I can understand why. A homepage with an embedded automatically playing video WITH sound would normally be cast into Internet Hell, but in e’cco’s case it redeems itself because it seems really honest (and thus an honest mistake?). When you can agree with a marketing video you know something is right (viewed post-dine… yes I just couldn’t wait to post the minute I returned home).

The food was simple but delicious. The beer, free flowing due to the excellent service. The menus, wine and food, straight forward and user friendly (hooray!). The environment, comfortable and unpretentious. The dessert, I turned this one down (what’s happening to me?). The wine, I have no idea, perhaps next time. The website, breaks in places and that video. My only gripe, not having a more appropriate image that I can use to accompany this post.

So… Mango Tart anyone?
