NT HOT CHILLI SAUCE

NT HOT CHILLI SAUCE

A friend (thank you) had recently brought back this bottle of pleasure from her trip to the Northern Territory. Unbeknownst to me, Darwin is apparently a treasure trove of Asian foods and delicacies. If this NT Hot Chilli Sauce (self named due to no name) is anything to go by, I believe it wholeheartedly.

It’s magic in a bottle. I’ll show you what I mean.

Magic in an Bottle

This fiery taste sensation is packed into a used Golden Circle juice bottle – a surprisingly effective receptacle that dispenses at the appropriate rate for hot chilli; randomly and with impunity. And it’s hot! About as hot as Nando’s 20th Anniversary XXX Hot chilli sauce (I have friends who would rather throw these bottles out out than attempt to finish them). And it’s tasty! Very similar to Hainanese Chicken chilli sauce but with garlic instead of ginger.

And it turns McDonald’s burgers into delicious treats worthy of consumption! A magical feat by any standard.

The inferior McChicken

For example, the McChicken with NT Hot Chilli Sauce transforms into…

Zero

Hero

A burger that could even rival Oporto’s Bondi Burger! What Nando’s could not achieve, this chilli sauce accomplishes with ease. What sorcery is this?

I've never seen a non-Asian consume this burger. It's quite odd...

My inner-Asian led me to the Filet-O-Fish. Would this chilli combine with the tartar to create a burger even more suited to Asians?

A risky move

A successfull gamble

Yes! I’ve never had a hot chilli fish burger before but this was fantastic. Note that the bottle decided that the amount of chilli dispensed be more conservative than for the McChicken. It knew that this was a risky move… It needn’t be concerned in the future.

Epitomises a McDonald's burger

The Quarter Pounder. Perhaps the most celebrated and abused McDonald’s burger (how dare they continually transform its core nature). I opted for a double patty, additional bacon but passed on the avocado. Poor abused Quarter Pounder. Could this chilli work its magic and save it from its cycle of burger abuse?

Kill me...

On second thought...

No, but doesn’t it look happy, tongue sticking out and all? Awww yes it does. And it’s tasty too. The spiritual successor to the deceased Oporto Aussie Burger.

NT Hot Chilli Sauce. $7.00 at your local NT markets. Magically transform any meal into gourmet.

I dread the day I’ll stare deeply and blankly into an empty bottle of NT Hot Chilli Sauce; distraught, overwhelmed, broken, beaten. What will I do? What will I do…

Phase 3 is complete. It’s time…

Did you consume all three burgers in the same meal? The chilli tongue is so funny… all it needs now is a comic bead of sweat running down its sesame-seed bun head.

You could order some more from 9 Carsten Crescent, Wagaman, NT, 0810?

  • Yang Wong

@Shu: Over a two day period. The opportunity kept presenting itself. It must be fate.

@Chen: I could but it doesn’t seem to even exist on Google Maps. It’s a magical land!

hmmmm….didn’t know you were such a great fan of chilli!

  • Yang Wong

Half the condiments at home are different kinds of chilli. Probably around 12-15 bottles of the stuff. :)

I would like to comment on the address…… its ‘Carstens’ and not ‘Carsten’

New light on procuring more sauce perhaps?

  • Janet Drummond

Hi, I tried this suace last week from a friend and it was beautiful. I need to know how I can purchase products please.

  • Yang Wong

@Janet Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible to purchase it online. I received it from a friend who gets it when she’s in the NT, or from those she knows from the NT.
